No, NO, NO!!!

I can see the Headlines now; “MILLIONS INJURED AS COWBOYs TONY ROMO BANDWAGON OVERTURNS!”

Is this the last straw? Probably not. For many fans, it just might be and who can blame them. Tony Romo has now engineered two franchise record collapses in the first 4 games of the 2011 season. If your scratching your head in disbelief, your not alone.

The Cowboys dominated the Lions for almost 3 quarters on Sunday. They scored early and often building a 24 point lead with just over 10 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. That is when the clock struck midnight on the Cowboys and especially Tony Romo. The Cowboys had a 24 piont lead and the ball and seemingly in control when it all started to unravel. Romo floated a lazy pass out to the flat when ex Cowboy and Tony Romo buddy, Bobby Carpenter jumped in front of the pass, picked it off and weaved his way to the endzone. 27-10, no worries. Still dominating. Next possession, Romo tries to hit new Cowboys Laurent Robinson who had been having a great game. Robinson failed to get in front of DBs face and VIOLA, another interception and worse yet, another return for TD. Just like that the Cowboys 24 point lead was down to 10 and the defenses hadn’t been on the field.

The rest of the game was a tug of war between the two teams. The Cowboys did manage to get a field and increase their lead to 13 but the Lions responded with their first offensvie TD of the day as well as a field goal to close within 3 points with just over 4 minutes to play.

The stage was set for Romo and the Cowboys to slam the door on the Lions comeback.  They simply needed to pick up a few first downs to drain the clock. But that wasn’t to be, Romo floated a pass over the middle to Jason Witten that fell short and into the arms of a waiting Lion defender.  The rest as they say is history, the Lions drove down the field to score the game winning TD and the Cowboys were left to ponder what might have been. The worst Collapse in Cowboys history preceeded by the worst 4 quarter collapse in Cowboys history just 3 weeks prior. It’s hard to believe that the Cowboys and especially Tony Romo can muster up such disappointing collapses in a short span.

The worst part is the COwboys now must hold this taste in thier mouths during the bye week and travel to Foxboro for what looks to be a butt whipping at the hands of the Patriots. Can you say, 2-3?
